Successful Support Groups: Part One - Starting a Support Group
Are you interested in creating a family caregiver support group but don’t know where to start? It is not as easy as many might think!
Join us for a two-part series to equip you to start and facilitate a successful caregiver support group. In Part One, we will discuss the resources and skills that are needed, considerations for the ideal group setting for your population, gathering the initial members, and establishing a sense of community in a new support group.
Part Two: Group Dynamics will be offered on March 23, 2022 also at 1:00 pm, virtually.
Cost for this session is $60. You can register for Part One and Part Two for $100 - register together and save! Attendees will be emailed directions to log-in after registering for the series.
Presenter
Markita Brown, MSW, CDP, CDSGF is the Outreach and Support Coordinator at Insight Memory Care Center and she is committed to service, education and enrichment of her community. Over the past decade, she has served various populations as social worker and enjoys aiding in the facilitation of growth despite one’s life circumstances. In addition, Markita is trained as a certified dementia support group facilitator and has empowered individuals in support groups for over nine years. Providing quality care to individuals diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers is her top priority; Markita strives to support and educate the community in efforts to help families and their loved ones retain a sense of self and purpose throughout their journey with the disease.
