Adjusting to Communication and Behavior Changes in Dementia

Communication can become difficult as you struggle to meet and understand the needs of your loved one. Come and learn strategies for effective communication and understanding and responding to difficult behaviors.

Presenters

Dana Rizzo, RN BSN ACMA
Dana Rizzo is currently is the Regional Area Manager for Business Development for Waltonwood Ashburn. She attended Jackson Memorial School of Nursing in Miami Florida and received her BSN from Marymount University of Virginia. She is completing her MS degree from Virginia Tech University. Dana has received numerous awards for her performance in Nursing and in the Area Manager of Business development role. She was the recipient of the Horizon Circle Award for the US in her role as a Clinical Liaison and an Area Manager for Business Development. Dana’s passion is advocating for patients, residents and families that need support in all areas of their lives. She supports her Healthcare colleagues in all areas of education.

Lindsey Vajpeyi, ADC/MC, BF-CMT, CDP, CADDCT
Lindsey Vajpeyi is the Director of Education and Outreach at Insight Memory Care Center in Fairfax, VA. Lindsey has dedicated her career to working with older adults who live with dementia and their caregivers. Her certifications include Certified Dementia Practitioner®, Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer®, Activity Director Certification with specialization in Memory Care, Master Trainer with the Best Friends™ Approach to Dementia Care, and she is a registered Dementia Friends Champion. Lindsey is passionate about quality dementia care from professionals, support and education for care partners, and assisting those with dementia to retain a sense of self and purpose throughout every stage of the disease.
